What qualifies me to live here?
Residents must be 62 years and older, with an annual income of less than $40,550.
Is this Section 8 housing?
We are not section 8 housing.
Do you have rental assistance?
We receive rental assistance through the USDA for qualified residents. The general rule of thumb is you will pay 30% of your net income.
Is Bingham Housing Inc a nonprofit?
Yes, Bingham Housing is a nonprofit run by a board of directors.
How old do you have to be?
Residents must be 62 years and older.
Are you an assisted care facility?
We are not, residents must be able to care for themselves. We have an office on site for assistance with general questions and answers.
Do you take disabled/handicapped residents?
Yes. We only have one fully handicap accessible unit, but we have reasonable accommodations for most residents 62 and older. Most of the apartments have handles in the showers. Some have ramps to the doors. All units are single level.
Do you allow pets?
Yes – one animal per apartment. Animals must be approved by management. Must be spayed/neutered and have all its shots.
Do you offer short-term leases?
We require a 1yr lease.
What deposits are required?
All residents must submit a $400 security deposit.
What are the laundry facilities like?
There are laundry facilities on site. There is a $10 monthly laundry fee with no limit on machine usage. Residents do their own laundry and supply their own detergent.
What utilities do residents pay?
Residents pay monthly electricity bills.
Units include water, sewage, and garbage at no fee to the resident. Lawn care and snow removal are also included.
What is parking like?
There is no assigned parking, but there are generally open parking spaces.
Is smoking allowed?
Smoking is not allowed in the apartments, due to the high cost of cleaning and deodorizing apartments that have been smoked in. The smoke also permeates the connecting apartments. You may still smoke outside – This only affects inside of the apartments. Fines will be assessed if you not are in compliance.
